in Webster, MA

Specific small coves and shoreline areas of Webster Lake were chemically treated with a USEPA/MA registered aquatic herbicides on Thursday, June 10th to control nuisance and invasive aquatic vegetation at critical areas, based on the
May 28th Survey. The total treatment area was very small (approximately 5% of the lake’s total area). Use of the lake for swimming, fishing and boating, in these treatment areas only and for a distance of 200 ft., beyond the bounds of treatment, was prohibited on the day of treatment only. In addition, a map of the lake showing the treated/restricted areas was posted at the State Boat Launch area; it was also available on the Webster Lake Association’s web-site (www.websterlakeassociation.org), as well as at the Town Offices.

The Town Boat Ramp and Town Beach were closed on the day of treatment. Printed signs, warning of these and any other water use restrictions, were posted (along the treatment/effected areas only) in advance of treatment. The work was performed under a License to Apply Chemicals permit issued from MA DEP and an Order of Conditions from the Webster Conservation Commission.

Aquatic Control Technology, Inc., of Sutton performed this work for the
